The ATLAS-XH Tubing Anchor is a retrievable anchor with hydraulic activation that can hold a tubing string in either compression or tension. The ATLAS-XH Tubing Anchor catcher maintains the tubing in place in the event that it should split and stops it from moving during pumping strokes. In the event of a component failure, the installation of a tubing anchor prevents tubing and rods from falling into the well and increases pump efficiency by reducing rod and tubing wear.
Pressuring the tubing is how the ATLAS-XH Tubing Anchor works. The shear screws holding the anchor unset get sheared by this pressure. A setting piston locks the setting force in place and push the slips into set position. The ATLAS-XH Tubing Anchor maximizes holding force in tension or compression by using specially designed heat-treated steel alloy double-acting slips. For enhance breakage resistance, slips are entirely caged and will be kept in the event that they break. Shearing screws under stress are used to recover the ATLAS-XH Tubing Anchor. To obtain the appropriate shear value required for release, shear pins are inserted in increments of about 5,000 pounds.
